Why do Mother’s Day photos?

Celebrating Moms and all you do for your kids!!

Celebrating Moms and all you do for your kids!!

I have a very special place in my heart for Mom and kids photos.  As a mom and photographer I realize how nearly impossible it is to have photos with my kids. I also remember a story that my aunt told me about how she never liked the way she looked in photos and she always wanted to lose weight so she didn’t take photos with my cousins.  She now looks back and sees how sad it is that she can’t find photos with her kids.  I will say she has been much better about taking photos with her grandkids.

We all love our kids and spend many thankless hours focussing on helping them develop and keeping them happy and healthy. There is often very little proof that we were there however, as we often play the behind the scenes role.

The reality is that there are no guarantees that we will have many chances to take photos with our kids and document our love for them for our future generations.

I have a Mother’s Day Special running for this year which includes a photo session in my beautiful garden property, an online viewing gallery, 6 full file images of your choice retouched and the option to order prints and keepsake products for $150.

Mother’s Day Special Moms!

May 7th, 2013

These are some of my favorites from this year’s Mother’s Day Special.  I still have a few more sessions to go as the weather did not cooperate last weekend.

Thank you to all the moms and kids that allowed me to share time with you.  I had fun!

Mother’s Day Special to me

May 7th, 2013

As you can imagine as a photographer, I don’t get many photos of myself.  It’s by design….I’d rather be on the backside of the camera.  However, when it comes to getting photos WITH my kids, I get one shot at it, once a year.  It is my time and it’s what I want to do on my day.  It started as a no makeup snap shot on our back porch when my daughter was a few weeks old.  Some years we put very little into the shot…..I grabbed the kids and we hit the bed one year, and some years I shop for wardrobe and hunt for new locations.

This year I am running a Mother’s Day Special to help other moms get some special shots with their kids.

Here are our favorites from years past and this years new one.

Happy Valentine’s Day and some cheesy Valentines ideas

February 14th, 2013

Every year my kids help me come up with ideas for their school Valenitines cards.  They are always silly and fun.  We try to coordinate the photos and items that they want to give out.  This year we were not allowed to give out candy (which I am very happy about) so the kids gave out erasers.  Ice cream PUZZLE erasers for her and soccer ball pencil erasers for him.

I design two cards on a standard flat card 4″x5.5 ” which gives us two 2.75″x4″ cards making them perfectly valentines size.  When we receive them from the printing company, we just cut them in half.  Somewhere I actually have small envelopes but couldn’t find them in my stash this year so we just tied them to the bags with erasers.
