Dogs are members of the family too: Leo gone but not forgotten

Thursday, December 6th, 2012

I have always believed that our pets are furry members of the family.  We have a story in our family that my dad was approached by a condo manager when we were on vacation who asked “Do you have a pet in there?” as we were not supposed to .  My dad confidently said “We don’t consider her a pet, she is a member of the family”.  And so it goes that I believe they should be in our documented portraits….especially in this case.

My friend mentioned to me that her dog was very ill and they did not know how much time he would have.  I immediately asked if they had thought of family photos with him.

As it turns out their time was much shorter than they had anticipated and he passed away exactly 1 week after these were taken.

Thankfully he was well enough to go on a walk this day and their family could enjoy him and include him in their Holiday card photos!

Out with the old….in with the new/ A picture speaks a 1,000 words

This photo was taken with my IPhone.  I was a little bummed that I didn’t have my “real” camera on me when I drove by this house but it really wasn’t necessary.  A picture truly speaks a thousand words.  I guess in this case you could have two different stories.  The very first that came to mind was the most obvious to me, that the new baby is here and the old barking dog has been put out of the house. (tied to the actual stork sign nonetheless).  The other story could be that the family dog is protecting the new baby and house.  Either way I couldn’t pass up the shot because it made me laugh out loud.  I hope it gives you a chuckle.  I would say “poor dog” but right after I took this he started barking like crazy, which could support either story.
